Guitar Tablature
You can scroll down to get to the tablature files, but please take a moment to read the following:
This is my personal collection of tablature files. I transcribed these songs myself, so my musical tastes will be pretty clear from the selection of songs and artists that you see! Anyone who plays guitar and likes the music of Joni Mitchell, Frank Zappa, The Beatles, Steely Dan, The Police, Led Zeppelin or Neil Young should find something of interest here. Some files contain detailed tablature for the songs, others contain chord shapes.
Please note: All the guitar tab and chord files that I have are on this page. If you are looking for a particular song and you can't find it here, please don't mail me with requests to work it out. I don't have much time to respond to requests, although offers involving cases of wine or bottles of whisky will be carefully considered ...! Try using some of the other internet tablature resources to track down tablature that isn't on this page.
If the song you are looking for isn't here, there are many other guitar tablature sites that may have what you want.
OLGA
One of the sites you should definitely try is OLGA, the On Line Guitar Archive. This houses the largest collection of guitar tablature on the net. The accuracy of the tab at OLGA is sometimes excellent, other times, not so good, but what do you expect for free?! There are many mirror sites of the OLGA archive that you can use to access the same collection of files.
Harmony Central
The Harmony Central site has a mass of useful guitar related information: tips, lessons, info on hardware and software as well as the OLGA tablature archive, and is definitely worth a visit.
Artist Specific Sites
There are some specialist sites containing tablature for individual groups/artists that are worth browsing. If you don't find the song you want on my page, have a look at:

How do I play this chord?
Some of these files contain just chord names instead of tablature. The chord shapes are usually included in the file, but if you want to learn a bit about chord theory so that you can work out the chords for yourself then take a look at my Introduction to Guitar Chord Theory.
How do I play a hammer-on/pull-off/bend?

Where can I find a good on-line chord dictionary or list of chords?
Most chord dictionaries and chord lists I have come across cover only basic chords and are not much use for finding shapes for slightly more unusual chords (D/F#, F#7add4, Bm11 ...). This page offers help with chord shapes, points out the common problems with chord dictionaries, and suggests a method for finding shapes for any chord shape you are interested in.

Another site that has a good collection of Zappa guitar tablature is the Chrome Plated Transcriptions of Destiny.
